Rally
2008 in Scotland
The dates have now been fixed for 29th Feb- 2nd March 2008 to hold the
BMG biennual rally in East Kilbride hosted by the
Lanarkshire Guitar and Mandolin Association (LGMA). See the Rally Page for

Mandolin
Teachers Diploma Course Successfully under way
The BMG Federation ran a very successful Mandolin Teachers Diploma course
which offered students the opportunity to gain all 5 credits required for
the Diploma awarded by Victoria College. Further Teachers weekends are
being planned for 2008.

Banjo syllabus
Danielle Saxon Reeves and David Wade have been working hard to put together a
banjo syllabus and several composers have written new compositions towards it.
Now nearing completion, it will be published through Victoria College once
finalised.
Graded Exams
Victoria College of Music is now publishing their
syllabus for mandolin. The exams are open to anyone and starts from
"First Steps" progressing to Grade 8. Graded exams are widely
used in orchestral instruments and the piano. It helps students to
gauge
their progress and gives them a recognised certificate. Victoria College
already publish a guitar syllabus.
